The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is an independent federal agency in charge of investigating civil transportation accidents in the United States, including all civil aviation accidents. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the agency is approaching 60 years old having been founded in 1967, replacing the former Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).
