Although not exceedingly frequent, airport closures in the United States are occasionally caused by the discovery of suspicious items by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Most incidents involve unattended bags, unusual items in carry-ons, or objects that initially appear menacing but are ultimately harmless upon further examination.
