At the time of writing this article, it had only been two and a half months since the tragic runway crash of Jeju Air flight 7C2216, in which a Boeing 737-800 skidded off the end of the runway and crashed into a concrete structure, killing 179 of the 181 people onboard. If it were not for the concrete structure at the end of Flight 2216’s runway path as it was coming in to land, many lives may have been saved, something investigated in this article written shortly after the crash.
