Pratt & Whitney, an RTX Corporation enterprise, and General Electric have completed the first all-detailed design reviews (DDRs) of their XA103 and XA102 adaptive cycle engines (aka variable cycle engines) for the United States Air Force’s (USAF’s) Next-Gen Adaptive Propulsion (NGAP) program. NGAP is intended to propel, at the bare minimum, the USAF’s Next Generation Air Dominance (NBAD) fighter jet.
